Description

Syre is a textile impact company on a mission to decarbonise and dewaste the textile industry through textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, starting with polyester. The company’s recycling solution provides circular polyester with quality on par with virgin polyester, but with a superior sustainability performance. Syre is initiated by Vargas and H&M Group and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The company’s first blueprint production plant, in North Carolina, USA, will be operational in 2025, with commercial sales starting in 2026. By 2032, Syre plans to have multiple gigascale plants worldwide and produce 3 million metric tonnes of circular polyester.

the great textile shift
starts now

Textile waste is a growing challenge, with less than 1% of the global textile fibre market coming from recycled textiles. Polyester is by far the biggest CO2e emitter and fastest growing fibre. At unprecedented speed and scale, Syre will offer a plug and play solution for the existing value chain, enabling quick adoption with no switching costs and reducing CO2e emissions by up to 85% compared to the production of oil-based virgin polyester.
