H2 Green Steel's production plant approved by the Environmental court

The company can now start the construction groundwork on the site already over the summer

The Environmental Court in Umeå has approved H2 Green Steel’s 5 million tonne steel plant which is to be established in Boden, northern Sweden. The company can now start the construction groundwork on the site already over the summer.

Leading up to the court decision, H2 Green Steel has had a constructive and efficient dialogue with all stakeholders and parties involved in the permit process. As part of its decision, the court presented a few conditions for the permissibility which were expected and are a result of the discussions in the public hearing in the Environmental Court in June 8-9, 2022.

H2 Green Steel will start preparatory work at the site within the next two weeks, while planning for the next phase of its permit which the company is hoping to have approved by the end of 2022.

One step closer to producing green steel 2025

“This is a great milestone for H2 Green Steel and something we have worked towards since our launch in February 2021. Now, I look forward to beginning the construction groundwork on the Boden site this summer, taking us one step closer to producing green steel 2025,” says Carl-Erik Lagercrantz, Vice Chairman of H2 Green Steel.
